There are many opportunities available to you through Sacramento Feral Resources. Whether you prefer to work in the field and be “hands-on” or work from your computer and phone to provide assistance, you can help. In addition, if you have experience with socializing, fostering, and/or caring for very young kittens or you would like to become a colony caregiver, we’d like to hear from you.
Volunteer Opportunities
Triage Response Center – intake and follow-up of reports submitted via the website – have a personal computer, an internet connection, familiarity with Google utilities (browser, drive, and spreadsheets), and general computer skills
Trapping – assist clients with trap and/or transport of feral cats for TNR – need vehicle to accommodate traps – may learn alongside an experienced trapper
Transport – assist clients unable to lift and/or transport trapped cats to TNR Clinics – need vehicle to accommodate traps –may choose to provide transport for feral cats as part of RTF programs - may learn alongside an experienced transporter
Education – inform the public about feral cats and living with them in your neighborhood – provide mediation and conflict resolution between neighbors, management, tenants, and others dealing with feral cats in their neighborhood.
Socialize and/or Foster – help feral kittens pulled from a colony at a very young age become friendly and adoptable – highest need is in spring and summer
Colony Caregiver – feed and care for a feral colony in your neighborhood – monitor cats to ensure that all cats are altered
